Brahmanda Purana

This is a source quoted from by Madhva quite a number of times, and always, apparently, with the problem that his quotes are not to be found (Mesquita, p. 90, fn. 153).

After a study of the major Puranas, Banerji35 says (p. 25):

``None of the many verses from the Brahmanda quoted by Hemadri (13th cent.) in his Caturvarga-Cintamani occurs in the extant Brahmanda Purana. This naturally raises the suspicion that the present Purana is, to a great extent, different from the genuine Brahmanda Purana. The contents of the extant Brahmanda Purana [also] do not accord well with what is stated [about them] in the Matsya Purana.''
