Uddalaka the son of Aruni belonged to the Gautama clan28 (pp. 187-188), for which reason he is also called Aruni. The Prapancahrdaya mentions Gautama as a sakha of the RV (and also of the SV); an ``Uddalaka-Sruti'' could come from either source. (Madhva also cites a Gautama-khila in his Gita Bhasya, 10.41.)
